Illustrious career - decked by Shack
My hockey career began on the ice in Hubbards cove and went thru the growing pains of high school, Junior B , oldtimers and now super seniors - a great ride but not much pay to show for it.
Always had a weakness for the Maplebuds that all started with watching my hero Dave Keon take out the Canadians. Still makes me weak when they beat them!! Just not often enough!
A highlight was the year I was drafted to play against the Montreal Canadian Old Timers in the Chester rink. Red Story refereed and gave Henri - the pocket rocket - Richard two penalty shots to win the game. We protested the game. No luck.
Next year I played the Toronto Maple Leafs Old Timers in Bridgewater - fluked a few tip in goals that got Shack upset. He levelled me in the corner with an elbow. Not everyone can claim a takedown by Shack.
Stopped cheering for TO after that.
My next highlight is being lucky enough to be tying my skates for as long as Elmer !!
